Presidente Kiir disse que é lamentável que enquanto o país celebra este novo começo, ainda há conflitos tribais acontecendo devido ao roubo de gado, apontando o atual conflito no estado de Jonglei entre os Lou Nuer e Murle as tribos.
De acordo com a mensagem do Presidente Kiir, o comportamento insensato de invadir um do outro gado não pode mais ser tolerado e deve parar com efeito imediato. A mensagem diz claramente que os bovinos são um recurso nacional, cultura e orgulho e não deve, portanto, ser transformado em um recurso maldição.
